We’re incredibly proud to share that Chris Beckett, a valued member of The Academy’s Curriculum & Programme team, has officially completed his CrossFit Level 1 certification and it marks a huge milestone for both his personal development and the continued growth of our work.

At The Academy, we believe that empowering young people starts with empowering the people who support them. That’s why we’re deeply committed to upskilling all of our volunteers and staff, equipping them with the knowledge, qualifications, and confidence they need to create safe, impactful, and inspiring environments for the young people we work with.

Huge thanks to Joe Pearson, the CrossFit seminar staff member who led the certification weekend with skill and encouragement, and to Unity Fitness for hosting.

Through ongoing investment, our team has access to training and certification across British Weightlifting, British Functional Fitness, CrossFit, Safeguarding, and GDPR, so that we’re not just coaching movement, but delivering meaningful, well rounded development that supports every individual who walks through our doors.

Hannah Mittoo

Hannah Mittoo is the Co-Founder and Director of The Academy Programme, a UK-based initiative using CrossFit as an educational tool. She played a key role in piloting a 16-week CrossFit course aimed at supporting students, particularly those in or from the care system, by introducing them to sports and fitness, while also focusing on life skill development and educational opportunities. Following the pilot’s success, Mittoo and her team expanded the program into schools, partnering with local CrossFit affiliates to engage and transform students’ lives through fitness.
